At last I have managed to snap some good pictures of The Lost Sock, which has been my main project for this year. It’s a wordless picture book that follows two forest inhabitants on their quest to find a missing sock. Because there are no words, I used cutouts to pull the reader forwards through the story. All cut, bound and embroidered by hand!
Here are some impressions of my Degree Show space, taken at last night’s private view. I was lucky to get a clear moment to take a picture because it was super busy! It was great to meet so many kind people, thank you to all who were there. Soon to come are more pictures of my main project for this year, a wordless book about two children and one sock. So stay tuned!
The beetles are joined by a flock of moths for tonights business view of the Degree Show. The Edinburgh College of Art Degree Show will be open to the public from Saturday onwards (June 1st) so come and look at some amazing art - I had a wee snoop around the exhibition already, everyone’s work is amazing!
Stag beetle and his pals are ready to be mounted!
I’m making some beetles! This handsome stagbeetle is ready to be assembled. He and some of his pals will be looking for a new home at the Edinburgh College of Art Degree Show. Come and say hello to him and me between 1 - 9 June on the 4th Floor of Evolution house on the corner of Westport and Lady Lawson Street.
This is what a naked book looks like. Another degree show piece!
Degree Show Sneek Peek! A hand-pulled three colour screenprint.
A very smokey book.
This one is for everyone who is worried that the Easter Rabbit will get stuck in the snow. It won’t. Because it’s prepared.
Here’s an illustration I made for Edinburgh University’s Nomad magazine; the article was about how current US foreign policy can be compared to British imperialism of the past.
